Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park

I came to the US in 1985, unplanned, and mostly unprepared.  I did not dream of living and working in the US when I was young.  So, I can be categorized as an "unintentional migrant".  Now, I earn my living as a professor of communication studies at Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia, and before which I taught a Longwood University in Virginia, and at Truman State University in Missouri.

Early education was in India.  I have a BA (Economics, Sociology, Political Science) from St. Joseph´s College/ Bangalore University. I received a post-graduate diploma in journalism from the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore, now Bengaluru.

I worked as a bank officer, a school teacher, and a copy editor in India before heading to the US in 1985. I received an MS in Communication from the University of Southern Mississippi and my PhD in Communication from Michigan State University. I live in Columbus, Georgia, with my wife Sujaya, and son Sudhanva, who is the architect of this website.

I have written for regional American newspapers like the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, The Columbia Daily Tribune in Missouri, and the Richmond Times-Dispatch in Virginia, as well as national newspapers like The Washington Post and The Guardian (London). My op-eds and commentaries have appeared in the "South Writ Large", "India Abroad", "India Currents", "Swarajya", "The Pioneer", and others.  I have authored a small number of books, mostly on Indian politics and society, and co-authored "Intercultural Communication: The Indian Context".

I love to play tennis and watch tennis and golf, and listen to Carnatic music.  If I had my wish, I would have loved to be a musician, or a doctor... and if the Gods are listening, I could be that in my next life :-)
